Foxon Park Draft Style Root Beer

so i knew i was going to boston to visit some friends and i had heard about this soda bottling plant in conneticutt, pretty much on the way, so i planned my route so i could stop by and check it out. and stop by i did! indeed. it was pretty rad in fact, just in the middle of a pretty residential neighborhood, syrup making on one side of the road, bottling on the other. i picked up an empty box and filled it with various sodas. that included, of course, this root beer. it is good but not spectacular though. i think it needs a little more flavor. what is there is very good, sweet, kind of carmel-ish. but it just seems a tad watery for my tastes. not to say that i would not enjoy it on a warm day or with a slice of shoofly pie or something.

  1. Just tried this one. It has the same buttery/nutty flavor of Jones Root Beer, yet it pulls it off way better. I actually really really enjoyed this root beer. It was kind of weak and not complex. Oddly enough, the flavor was really good. It’s not as good as Capt’n Eli’s or any of the other ones in the 90’s. But it’s almost up there, so I’d give it an 88.

  2. This one was good, I could/would buy it again.
    I gave it an 80.

  3. After reassessing, I actually think this is one of my favorite root beers. Almost has a root beer candy flavor to it. So basic, but so good. Not that much sugar in it in comparison to other sodas. I upped my score to a 92. Really good. Perhaps it warrants a retaste, Anthony??
