This was probably my worst brewery experience of my Maryland/Virginia journey. which is not to say it was terrible or whatever, but it just did not work out too well. this location is in a mall, which is fine. the restaurant was not too hard to find really although parking was a huge hassle, especially for a not so great mall. oh well. so i sat down at the bar and ordered a mug of root beer, no ice. i got a lame glass of root beer with ice. i asked for a mug, no ice but the waiter/barkeep guy said that was how it comes. i think he was just lazy, but so be it, i will review it how i got it.
the taste is mostly typical and fine. it is sweet and crisp. there was a bit of a sharp edge to it, a result of excess carbonation. but they did not overdo it as many on tap root beers seem to. getting beyond the sharp feel it had a bit of an herbal feel that made it a little different than the standard taste. overall though, it was fine, nothing crazy, nothing amazing, nothing bad. just a decent root beer as you would expect.

I wonder if they serve their beer with ice as well. :O
I had the same problem when I tried it. It comes on ice because it isn’t on tap, they just add the syrup to carbonated water and then add ice for chilling. Since that didn’t fit my definition of a gourmet root beer, I didn’t even drink it.
