Rocket Fizz, along with the super seeker Sagi, do it again! although i will admit i have some reservations about whether all of these Rocket Fizz sodas are in fact different drinks or just relabeled versions of the same liquid.
as a kid i watched the Three Stooges, that seems to be the ideal age to enjoy their brand of humor. which is not to say exactly that it is juvenile, but it is more simple in its message. I am curious what actual connection this has to which stooge. it is not like they really have anything to lose by licensing their name to a root beer anyway, but it still seems a rather random pairing.
the label has a weirdly colorized photo of the classic three stooges, before Shemp came along, holding mugs of what appears to be root beer but could very well just be more of the colorization action going on. as with the Gene Autry root beer, i wonder how much the celebrity endorsement here helps. i suppose it doesn’t hurt beyond the licensing costs, so there is that.
my biggest initial impression of this drink is just how long lasting the foamy head is! wow, very impressive indeed. it tastes not too far from standard microbrew stuff, quite sweet, quite a bit of caramel, typical flavors profile going on. it is a root beer, plain and simple. if you want something better than 96% of what is in supermarkets, but still nothing too crazy or unusual or inventive, this is a drink for you. sometimes that is just what i want, but in general i want something different, something i have not had many times before, yet still reminiscent of what i have had and what i know as ‘root beer.’ so yeah, it is just fine and tasty but nothing great or quest-worthy. i will have to get bottles of this and the other Rocket Fizz root beers to compare head to head one day just to see if i can tell any difference.
