here we go with number three of the four father’s day special pack from Northern Soda Company! that is, assuming it is different than their normal pecan root beer. it seems sort of weird to me to have a pecan and a toasted pecan root beer, I mean, are they really that distinctly different flavors? well, more flavors for me, so I vote “yes” on this ballot.
strangely I like pecans in stuff but not so much on their own. pecan pie? bring it on! pecans in granola? yum! plain pecans? no thank you. this is the opposite of walnuts, which is rather weird I suppose. anyway, I am intrigued by this one. there is of course one other pecan root beer, where the pecan is rather a secondary thing.
this drink doesn’t quite do it for me. Northern Soda Co always has a lot of sweetness in their sodas. this one goes over the edge of a sweetness level that is tasty for my taste buds into just too much and syrupy. the pecan is there yet not terribly strong but also present is a sort of bitter taste that hits me first but goes away rapidly, yet the memory of which remains. yeah, I don’t like this too much really. it is ok but not as good as their other offerings or just sodas in general.
