I have had knowledge of this root beer for quite some time so I was super excited to finally get my hands on it. I am always in favor of companies taking chances and trying new things in root beer flavor. this company takes many chances all at once. or perhaps they took time to build up their perfect recipe is most likely the real way it happened. it has one of the most unusual ingredient lists around, including such things as carrots, fenugreek seed, beets and molasses! that is all well and good but in the end it has to taste good.
so does this wacky concoction actually have a good flavor? in fact, I say it does! it really is super unique and an a very interesting experience. first you get hit with a little bitter from the fenugreek backed with the hearty molasses and it slowly fades with the birch and a little carrot and ginger taste coming to the front. the molasses kind of sticks around and is most of the aftertaste. it is not overly sweet but enough is there to keep it enjoyable and not too bitter. the same with the carbonation level. I feel like they really nailed this all around. I let my daughter try it as well and she absolutely hated it so opinions may vary widely on this one. if you enjoy more herbal and unusual root beers, definitely give this a try. but if you want a more traditional straight up root beer taste, this will not be for you most likely. is it the best root beer I have ever had? no. but it is one of the more unusual ones that actually works.
