woo, another regional grocery store that has put out a line of ‘gourmet’ sodas in glass bottles! and of course someone kind enough to sent one to me to review is another reason for a ‘woo!’ I am trying to figure out what the creature on the label exactly is. is it some sort of hipster lion with the anchor forearm tattoo, striped shirt under a jacket of sorts, corn cob pipe and quirky hat? or perhaps it is a sailor lion? or not a lion at all? I mean, that looks like a mane kind of but it could be some weird bearded otter or giant squirrel or something. I can’t find if Schnucks has some lion or other animal mascot going on so that is no help. I could is this was Food Lion’s soda line but it is not.
well, is it any good?
it is not bad. it is very creamy and mainly a straight forward flavor, nothing too unique. the vanilla provides that smooth mouth feel and flavor but it blends with the root beer essence well. the carbonation also is very good, not taking away from the flavor or the experience but adding a nice element to it. the foamy head is long lasting and nice visually. it is a good soda that is more something to enjoy alongside dinner, maybe a pizza or burger of some sort. I don’t think it is unique and interesting enough to be the focus of an experience. and that is just fine really, we need these sorts of beverages in the world as well.
