My Private Label Root Beer

I ordered this from Art Supply Warehouse who make this Saint Drools Root Beer once a year it seems. or, more accurately they order it from My Private Label. I had emailed them to ask if they make it themselves but they never got back to me. so I took the risk and ordered a few bottles. I was disappointed to see it was actually a My Private Label product so didn’t really think much of it. but today I saw it in my fridge and thought I would check if the recipe was at all different, and it indeed is! woo!! or perhaps they offer different recipes for the buyers to choose from? I have no idea, it is a giant mystery to me which maybe I could figure out with an email or something of course. perhaps one day…
I find it a little weird to proclaim there are hints of anise, vanilla and honey yet none of those are actually listed as ingredients but instead must be assumed to be the ‘natural and artificial flavors.’ I do not really taste the anise but I could see there being vanilla and honey in here, they should up the anise content since I enjoy anise in general. I think this is better than the other / older recipe I have had a few times, it seems more complex, creamier and like more effort was put into it. yet when I look at the rating for that one, I would not rank this that high. huh. this is the tricky thing of reviewing stuff for almost 30 years now, my taste have changed some, I have tried a lot more sodas. I can’t really go back and re-review stuff, well I technically could do that for some things but I don’t have the time for that. so I just move on and things must be taken somewhat in the context of the time they were written. so this soda is pretty good, a little bit of a herbal kick and a nice carbonation as well as the right sweetness level. I could see people being happy to put their name or business name or whatever on it.
