interesting, another vanity bottler! and with a non-twist off cap. i would think that would be less customer friendly. curious. also the awful quality of the labels is surprising. they are very bad quality color copies as far as i can tell. from afar, and probably in the photo there, it looks fine but the colors bleed into each other a lot when it is examined closer. i cannot at all read the ingredients except something about water and high fructose corn syrup.
despite that, this is probably the best vanity label soda i have had thus far. it has a pretty rich, vanilla filled flavor that goes down well. the vanilla does not overwhelm the overall beverage though as many drinks seem to end up doing. this is a good thing, the vanilla stays as an element of the complete taste, not the dominant one. it is a touch over sweet and sticky i feel though. that keeps it out of the top level. well, that and the fact that it does not add that extra special zing which has no real definition but i know it when i taste it. i do enjoy this drink and would get more if i go to the west coast, perhaps even brew some of my own.

Weird that you titled this one as BREW BAKERS, even though it is literally called SURF CITY, but I digress. I actually thought I liked this one a lot more than I originally did. So much so that I bought a case of this stuff. Whatever. The taste is actually very smooth, but a bit lacking. Could be more full bodied. That said, I still give it a 78 or so. Not bad. Really like the smooth vanilla flavor, but it almost tastes moreso like a vanilla root beer than just a root beer. It also has an interesting honey taste, and maybe even some marshmallow(?). Will not be buying a case again, because I do notice a kind of weak root beer flavor and not the spicier kick that I like.
Well, it is made by Brewbakers Brewing and seemed to be possibly a vanity labeled thing that they would put anyone’s name on. Now it seems uniquely Surf City so I can probably change it to Brewbakers Brewing Surf City. If I remember later I will do that! =)
