Ozark Mountain Bottleworks Root Beer

i had found this company some time back and noticed one could order the other sodas but not the root beer. of course that is insanity. but i waited and checked back occasionally. still couldn’t do it. so after talking to the might Eric i emailed them to ask if i could order some. they were extremely kind and offered to just send me some!! woo hoo! shortly after the package arrived and was among the best wrapped shipments i have ever received. very impressive.
i don’t think i have seen many root beers with green labels. a couple, Mt Angel, probably one of the Journey ones… anyway i like their general style. it is very old school soda company, even the name being “bottleworks” evokes a time gone by. i am not quite sure what a bottleworks even is to be honest, but it sounds cool. i also have never seen a soda with such a wide difference between the carb amount and the sugar amount, usually they are equal, maybe 1 or 2 extra grams of carbs, but 11 grams of carbs that are not sugar is a lot! what is it? one much wonder although i suspect it is a misprint? i don’t know what else it could be.
when i twisted the cap off, i caught a whiff of this drink and thought “i am going to like this.” sweet smelling indeed. and when i tried it, i do indeed like it. it is pretty straight forward in taste so it does not set itself apart. yet it does the straight up root beer thing very well. it is very sweet, yes. i like that in a soda. it is under control and doesn’t go into the syrupy sweet realm. it is also kinda of creamy and has a very long lasting, large head. i would love if they added something a little different, some maple perhaps or cinnamon or clove or something to really make it stand out. it is very good but needs that added bonus to make it great. there is something to be said for a safe, good root beer though and they hit that mark well.

This sounds like a winner! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for this one; it sounds right up my alley.

  2. I thought this one had a good smooth flavor – however it had a slight mint flavor that I just could not like. The flavor is pretty good, but the minty-toothpaste flavor kind of takes it down a few points. Also, the aftertaste tastes kind of like aspartame. 83 for this one.

  3. The Smell in bottle is, vanilla and winter green, weird since neither is listed.
Tastes like winter green, not a strong root beer flavor. It’s not bad, I would drink it again just for the unique flavor.
    I give it a 70.

I picked up a bottle of this on a recent trip to Texas along with a few others I had not yet tried and it was the pick of the litter for me. Tasty

I liked it. Pretty creamy and smooth with some vanilla and rooty notes. I gave it an 80.
