this is the second of the extracts from rainbow that i got. the birch beer remains and i think i ordered a spruce beer also. if i did not, i will have to get it. so i had the root beer a few days ago so it is still pretty fresh in my mind. the taste here is along the same lines but even more earthy and ‘rooty’ which is what i’d expect from a sarsaparilla anyway. it is again a bit too bitter for my tastes and a little too watery too. i should try it with extra sugar and extract next time and see if that really does make it better. frankly this is the only sarsaparilla extract i have ever had, but compared to other regular, pre-made sarsaparillas this is just ok. i suppose if i was short on space or really jonesing for a sarsaparilla, this would do. maybe to make sarsaparilla pancakes or something i could use this. but more likely i will never open this again. such is life. if you want a rooty drink though and have the time and means of carbonation, go on and try it out. maybe you could make some sugar water and run it through a soda stream too? i have no idea, i have not used one of these doohickies so i don’t know their capabilities or if they are limited to syrup usage. i don’t see why they would be but it could mess up the innards somehow.
