Oogave Organic Sarsaparilla

I am not sure just when Oogave put out a sarsaparilla, but there I was at Rocket Fizz, trying to find new drinks when I came across it. as I have had so many Oogave root beers by now, I figured this was one I had tried. but I was wrong, so wrong. so that made me happy and excited. well, sort of. my recollections of trying this root beer are mostly that they were not too tasty. but one never knows how they have done since that last time. strangely the side of the label proclaims this “Spiced Root Beer” so maybe this another evolution of their root beer? the ingredients are almost identical. I’ll have to taste it and see how it stacks up.
I think I was expected much worse so this was pleasantly not too bad. it starts off with a little herbal taste, that is soon replaced by a more sharp, rather bitter flavor but then fades into a more mellow, creamy / sweet sort of deal. so the memory you are left with is not bad, but the middle is the issue. i taste a little bit of licorice, more sassafras, and a hint of maybe clove in there. it is difficult to tell what is what exactly. it is better than I expected but it isn’t a good drink. for 100 calories, this isn’t bad I suppose, better than many things, but I think i’d pick a half bottle of a better tasting thing than the whole bottle of this.
