North Star Craft Soda Root Beer

I did not even know this soda existed before Tony posted about getting some. I of course contacted him right away about getting some extra for me. as he is a super awesome guy, he did just that. although I just realized I did not send back my end of the trade yet! oops, bad anthony! i will try to remember to send his stuff out tomorrow. in any case….
this is made by the Whistler Bottling company but is definitely a different recipe. actually the website just goes to the Whistler site and they talk about having two lines of soda. i gather this is their more modern take on root beer. i am not sure what that should taste like if so, thus i’d better find out…
alright, it is a sweet, yet slightly watered down taste to me. it has a traditional root beer taste, nothing crazy or outrageous or out of the box at all here. i enjoyed it more when i first tried it but as i drink more i am less impressed. it tastes good but is a bit generic in that goodness. if i had not had 600+ sodas i probably would find it different. it is pretty creamy and caramel tasting although like i said, some swallows seem watery for some reason. curious… if i did not have lots of choices, i could see getting this occasionally.

  1. This one was not to bad, I would give this a 70.
Are you aware of another new root beer on the market, called, Stubborn? The second b is backwards. They sell it here in some Walmarts in MN. My wife even showed me a face book “TV” commercial for it.

  2. Yeah, it is Pepsico’s attempt at infiltrating the micro-brew soda world. I got some recently but have yet to try it.

  3. I didn’t taste a weak flavor in this one. The flavor in their is pretty good. Just a very standard tasting root beer with some sassafras, licorice undertones; but nothing special. But wholly how!, is the carbonation way off the hook. If they toned down the carbonation it would be much better, but it practically burnt my mouth off. Even pouring this into a frosted glass mug and its still burning my mouth. I gave this one an 83.
