ah! they also changed the recipe of their Vanilla Root Beer! very good news for me.
as I only had the previous version once and it was quite some time ago, I have little recollection of its taste. I suppose a better memory would benefit me in general in these sort of things, reviewing root beers for 23 years or whatever.
I am little surprised this is not more vanilla tasting. it is for sure the most present flavor and I am glad it is not more pronounced as when the vanilla level is too high it gets to be nauseating. they actually balance it well.
so I only got one bottle of this, I started my review, got interrupted and put the cap back on tight and threw it in the fridge. it is now a bit later and there are only about 2 swallows of the soda left. someone in the house named “not me” drank it! it is like the Family Circus has come alive. alas. so I will have to do the rest of this from memory and what is left.
I think, with root beers that emphasize the vanilla, that they need to tone down the sweetener as it becomes too sweet. I am not one to complain about sweetness levels in general so you know it has to be quite a serious thing if the sweetness is too much for me. of the ‘vanilla root beers’ I have had, I would say this is the best one, but I could be forgetting one. so if that is your jam, check this out. it is good.
