this soda was a challenge to get. I knew it existed and I knew there were several Shop Rite stores around but none of them seemed to have it or know how to get it or when they might get it. so when ever I passed by a ShopRite and I had some time I would venture in and check the various places it might be. eventually I learned that they only kept this soda line in the ready made meal area by the deli with single bottles and cans. it was not something they sold in multi packs, at least in the stores near me. which I find kind of weird, I mean don’t you want to try to sell more of it in any way you can? but if it is an item that they don’t seem to get much of, perhaps individual bottles is the way to go. whatever.
I am intrigued by this drink. it is actually unique. it starts off kind of birch-like, a nice little wintergreen taste. but then it develops with a bit of an iced tea sort of flavor. it is an interesting twist. I like it. huh. it is rather crisp and refreshing, something I feel like I could drink a bunch of. I am rather surprised that a grocery store brand is this tasty. I will have to check but this is one of the better red birch beers I have had, and I think that is saying something at this point, 26 and 1/2 years in. well done ShopRite, well done.
