this is the first review from my Maryland/Virginia root beer quest although not the first soda i tried over that two day period. this location was actually situated in a mall of sorts. the workers were, for once, very friendly and great about getting me some soda to go. there seemed to be some issue though as my bartender lady poured some of it into a tasting glass for another bartender to try, which, to me, meant it may not have been mixed right or maybe it was old or perhaps dirty? who knows. i did not try it in the restaurant as i had so many places to get to so this will be my first real taste.
they went for a very standard root beer flavor with this one. it seems most breweries do that. which is fine really but i’d prefer something unique. i see why they don’t go too crazy as it should appeal to a wide range, but if you make it different in a good way, it will be more than a novelty really. so this is sweet to near the acceptable max level. i seem to detect a bit of brown sugar but it may just be a more caramel edge to it. it has a moderate amount of creaminess. it works but does not overly stand out. it is good for what it is, a very well done, standard root beer.
i did not sample the food so i cannot comment on that side of the business but the selection was good at least. perhaps next time.
