I had chalked this soda up as one I probably would have to make a pilgrimage to obtain. I mean, it is not that far away, but far enough that it has to be at least a day long adventure. so of course Akira comes through with a bottle in trade! what a guy!
the label drawing reminds me a lot of the ‘Sean the Sheep’ stuff from the Wallace & Grommit people, Aardman i think they are. not that there is anything wrong with that, i quite enjoy all of their stuff. so it is a cute little black sheep. all well and good. i would normally be a little annoyed by the use of comic sans font, but here is works well, so kudos to you Otter Creek people.
it tastes pretty herbal yet sweet. the sarsaparilla extract gives it a very hearty herbal taste with a little bit too much sharpness for my taste. the double sugar onslaught though does balance it out pretty well. it does not strike me as a very sweet soda until i think about it more and by then the initial flavor is fading and the sweetness is taking over. i do wish it were not quite so sharp and came off a little more smooth. it is not an awful thing and doesn’t take over the flavor profile as it does in some other sodas, but it is noticeable and distracting to me.
