frankly, or george-ly, or I guess in my case, anthony-ly, I am just sort of guessing that the recipe here changed. Polar did change the ingredients and nutrition info on the other varieties of soda (spoiler alert) so it seemed safe to assume this one was also changed. I occasionally have had this over the 24 years since I first reviewed it as it is one of the more readily available white birch beers around me. somewhere along the way I believe it tasted different as well so I am quite confident in my new review here. they did change the label a lot as well and it is much better now in my opinion.
so yeah, Polar makes 1 liter plastic bottles of sodas, mostly diet actually it seems, the regular versions are a bit harder to find and some of the diet drinks I have never seen in fully sugared versions.
the flavor is not too strong here but it has a light, refreshing sort of birch wintergreen thing going on. in the perfect white birch, that flavor would be stronger. but for $1, this will do in a pinch. the sugar level is quite high for a casual drink but I might partake of it on a hot day, after doing yard work and the like. and that is exactly what I did today so I have drained most of this bottle even though I have not written a whole lot really.
