Summit Root Beer

once again Aldi comes through with yet another new recipe when they finally bring back their root beer. I believe this is the fourth iteration. I am a little confused by the whole thing, meaning that they seem to only carry the glass bottle sodas for a short time, every three years or so and each time it is a different recipe, name and label design.
I feel like the graphic design here is a bit lazier than the previous version. I mean that one had a dog and seemed to be going for that angle of root beer although I still fail to see the connection between dogs and root beer, but no matter. but here it is just kind of thrown together from what looks like a knock off of Saranac. although Saranac is rather tasty, so why not?
as it has been a few years since I had that last Summit soda, I don’t quite recall it. but this one is actually very good. it has a very smooth, creamy feel with a solid amount of sweetness and a nice flavor. that flavor is a bit what holds it back from truly top tier exceptional. now, it tastes excellent, definitely, yet it does not rise above the best exactly. it has a nice rooty flavor with a good caramel overtone so I am very much enjoying it. I will be going back to Aldi to stock up on this one and it is probably the best soda I have had in a long while
