I recently went on a little summer trip to Florida, to visit family and generally have fun, warm up and get away. of course I looked for any new root beers that might be had when the oppurtunity presented itself. I happen to be near a Sprouts supermarket, which seemed to be a more upscale, natural type place. that sort of store has often resulted in weird, wanna be healthy wanna be root beers. so I popped in and looked about. I came upon actually two new sodas so that was cool, although my expectations of these is quite tempered. this one especially, I mean it is diet sparkling water I guess? or maybe just sparkling in general? and caffeine? well, let’s see…
hhhhmmm, it is not good that is for sure, but it is not terrible. I guess if i expect little I may be surprised in a good way. I would not say this is a sparkling water though, upon having drank it. those have much harsher carbonation and no sweetener at all, so I was mistaken in my initial possible impression here. it is diet though and has a bit of the diet icky metallic taste to it, much less than many others I have had. maybe that is because it is not all diet and does have those whopping 5 calories. so a diet soda it is. the root beer taste could be stronger, it is there but much more background and subtle than I would have liked. but as something sort of refreshing it is not the worst thing my tongue and belly have experienced.
